Ten little things

1. A nice gesture

When passing the Specsavers in the town centre last month, I noticed a bin with several umbrellas inside left for use by customers waiting in line to get inside. I think this is something customers will really appreciate on a rainy day.

2. Wrong tense

On a bus to Leicester last month, I noticed that the sticker on the side of the dashboard of the bus upstairs which informed people about the use of CCTV had a spelling mistake...
The sticker aboard Arriva's 4425  reads, "Relax. Were keeping an eye on everything." It could mean that "We're keeping an eye on everything" or, for those who are more cynical, it could mean, "We were keeping an eye on everything", implying that they're no longer doing so!

3. Altered road sign

Later that day in Oadby, south of Leicester, when I was waling from the town centre to Brocks Hill, I came across this street sign at Chestnut Avenue. It now reads, 'CHESTNUTS AVENUE'.

4. An unusual road name

Further along, off Brabazon Road, is a street by the name of 'Goddards Slang'. Weird.

5. An unusual road sign

Back to Loughborough-

Whilst the other roads on the housing estate behind Lidl have (bland) conventional road name signs, Goods Yard Close is the exception, having snazzy-looking signs stuck on a single pole that imitate the signage of an early Art-Deco-style British Railways station sign! Seen in February 2022.

6. In the mud...

...where I think this belongs perfectly well!
Seen on Tennyson Road in March 2022.

7. Apparently useless washing powder

The top of a box of washing powder in the kitchen of my house. More concentrated could mean useless, apparently!

8. Sickle and hammer

Somebody stuck a sickle-and-hammer sticker on a traffic light at the bottom of Alan Moss Road this January.
Whoever did it, if they're not just joking, is supporting a movement that hasn't worked for more than a century, isn't working today, and, I don't believe, will ever work. Fortunately, it's worth noting that the Communist movement in the UK is very fragmented.

9. A Nazi piece of work

But it is also important not to fall into the ditch on the other side of the road, namely that of fascism. And, yes, I have something to show you for this point as well.
Further up the road, at the junction of Burns Road, I found that someone had scrawled neo-Nazi propaganda on top of the sign for Burns Road. Shame on whoever did it! To think that some people still adore one of the most evil murderers in history!
Once this was reported, the council, much to their credit, speedily removed this vile graffiti.

10. Nicely arranged bus stops on Barsby Drive

The bus stops near the bottom end of Barsby Drive happen to be arranged so that the bus stop for the Kinchbus 11 is outside no. 11 Barsby Drive (other side of road) while the stop for the number 12 (foreground) is outside no. 12 Barsby Drive!
