Loughborough streets, but at night - December 2022

More pictures of streets in Loughborough to share today - except they were taken after dark. In the winter, of course, the days get sorter, which brings its own opportunities and challenges. The dark is an interesting thing that I seldom get to explore at other times of the year, but it's quite difficult to take good pictures because the exposure of my camera i increased, which means that not only does it take considerably longer to take photographs but also any movement of my hand is visible in the resulting shot, therefore making the shot blurred, which means that it can take several attempts to get a good photograph. At this time of year, photographing moving vehicles is out of the question.

United Reformed Church, corner of Frederick Street and Heathcoat Street.

Ashby Square, looking toward Market Street.

This is what usually happens if I try to take a photo of a moving object at night. I know it's one of Arriva's 16-plate ADL Enviro400MMCs, but nothing more.

Devonshire Square.

The Rushes Shopping centre is relatively easier photograph at night because of the large, well-illuminated shopfronts.

A similar situation occurs at the Willowbrook Retail Park, off Derby Road.

Back to the town centre. This is Biggin Street.

Market Place.

High Street.

Market Place. I was initially sceptical of the council's decision to spend 100 grand on new Christmas lights, but I now think they were worth every penny. It's a pity I didn't get to see the special lights for the 800th anniversary of the market and fair after dark, though.
