High places

Image
Here are some more photos taken from the top floor of the Carillon Court car park in July. The lifts in the car park have a rather unusual arrangement. Apart from the ground floor, the lifts stop half a floor apart from each other, as seen here, as well as in the previous photo, where the doors to the lifts on levels two through five can all be seen. The tower of All Saints' Church. Swan street, looking east. The Carillon Tower. Derby Square. Anyone want a free paving slab texture? The site of the former Amateur Swimming Association buildings.  The Luxurio student housing development.

Thorpe Acre Church through the year

Image
I must confess that I do really like All Saints Church Here are twelve photos of the church, one for every month of this year. (Or at least, it would be, had I had this post in mind, except that I didn't, and skipped a couple of months, so I put in some substitutes as well.) January February March Erm, wrong All Saints. This is All Saints with Holy Trinity, in Loughborough town centre, not All Saints Thorpe Acre with Dishley. April That's more like it! May June Nothing this month either - this time the substitute is Emmanuel Church. July August September October Another substitute - Emmanuel... again. November The snows of late November were a big surprise; I can't remember there being snow in November before. (But then again, this is the same year that it was snowing in April!) December Much of December consisted of dreary overcast skies and dim and dull days

Ten more photos of Loughborough's streets

Image
Here are ten more photos of Loughborough's many magnificent streets. Enjoy! Chestnut Street, at the Ashby Road end, seen in December 2020. On the left is New Ashby Road, while on the right is Ashby Road. (December 2020) Althorpe Drive, seen from Thorpe Acre Green in December 2020... again. The junction of Mildenhall Road and Prestbury Road in March 2020. Hermitage Road in June 2020. Priory Road, seen from Brookside Road in October 2021. Upper Green in October 2021, seen from Badger Way. Moor Lane in September 2021, seen from the bridge over the Grand Union Canal. Canal Bank in August 2021. Rockingham Road in August 2021.

Perfectly parked truck

Image
I was on Ashby Road last month when I saw a Bidfood truck (you know, those ones with the colourful landscapes made out of food - foodscapes) - but this truck had lost half of the picture on one side of the truck. Coincidentally, it was parked in such a way that the shadow of the buildings behind it lined up almost perfectly with where what was left of the picture still was! It was almost as if the sun had bleached out part of the picture!
