Gotham bus depot - 1926-2021

Image
The South Notts Bus Company was a bus company in Nottinghamshire which ran buses between Loughborough and Nottingham via Gotham, as well as buses on the Clifton estate. It operated from a garage in Gotham. In 1991, this company was sold to Nottingham City Transport, who have continued to run buses from the depot since. These photographs of the depot were taken in the summer of 2015 from a passing bus; it is customary for buses on the South Notts 1 between Loughborough and Nottingham to stop and wait or change drivers. A view of Gotham depot. The latest buses on the South Notts 1 entered service in 2015. They are Alexander Dennis-bodied Scanias; 642 is in the yard. Nottingham City Transport is a huge fan of Scania buses; all of their double-decker buses have a Scania chassis. They also liked the East Lancs bodywork; consequently, they purchased the very last Scania Omnidekka. 963 and another Omnidekka are in this photo. Another view of the yard. The offices, which still bear the South

Miscellaneously named bus stop on the wrong side of the road

Image
Not only has the bus stop got a completely miscellaneous name... ... it's even on the wrong side of the road! On Hermitage Road, there is a bus stop for the Kinchbus 5 as it returns towards the town centre. It is located on the edge of an open space... but the bus only runs in the other direction. At least the powers that be ought to put a sign on the bus stop saying something like 'buses stop on opposite side of road only'. Although apparently things weren't always this way as the Kinchbus 5 used to run in both directions here. A map of Kinchbus services in Loughborough in 2006, with the bus stop in question marked by the green arrow. (Original image: Kinchbus, via the Wayback Machine)

Trains on trucks - December 2020

Image
Sometimes, for one reason or another, trains have to leave the rails and hitch a ride on the back of a truck. These two photos were taken at the Ashby Road/Epinal Way roundabout on the 22nd of December 2020. The train is a Class 769 tri-mode multiple unit, which has been converted from the Class 319. They are being converted at Brush Traction, and this unit is destined for the Great Western Railway, as indicated by its dark green livery.

Victoria and Lagos Islands, Lagos, Nigeria - November 2018 - Near the Lekki-Epe Expressway

Image
A relative of mine went to Nigeria to greet family in October-November 2018 and brought back these photos. Because I've never been abroad, I had to do some research (mainly on Google Maps). A nearly finished and very smart-looking building on the corner of Abila Abiodun Oniru Road and Chief Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Road, near the Lekki-Epe Expressway. If only I could find its name... Apartments on the 1004 Estates, Victoria Island. Seen from the Lekki-Epe Expressway. Civic Towers, adjacent to the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Victoria Island. Opposite the Civic Towes are the 1004 Estates. Mobil Headquarters (according to Google Maps.) Sterling Towers, Lagos Island. RCCG Resurrection Lekki, Resurrection Drive, Victoria Island. Seen from the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
