New flats going up on Nottingham Road - April 2021

This building, called The Gate, is being built on the corner of Nottingham Road and Falcon Street by Solus Homes, and is expected to be completed in February 2022. It is part of a development of three blocks of luxury 1- and 2-bedroom apartments on the site known as The Waterside Village. The building behind The Gate in the picture, called The Mill, was originally built as a hosiery mill in 1889. From the 1950s it was occupied by 3M, which eventually moved to the former AstraZeneca site; The Mill was then extended and converted to flats. The final building is The Wharf, whose construction is yet to start.

The development has residents' facilities which include a gymnasium, a luxury swimming pool, a communal workspace and a concierge. According to the Loughborough Echo, there will be a convenience store and a café on Nottingham Road; also, the development will also allow for the possible expansion of the Preci-Spark factory on Morley Street.
