The Hermitage Road shops

Image
These are the Hermitage Road shops, on the Ashby Road estates. The shopping centre is currently comprised of a Lifestyle Express convenience store, a pharmacy, a post office and a coffee shop, plus an empty unit that was most recently a Chinese takeaway. The shops, seen from Hermitage Road. The former Chinese restaurant. The shops, seen from Sharpley Road.

Fire engines at Loughborough fire station

Image
The pictures below show an assortment of fire engines lined up at Loughborough fire station on the 14th of February 2020. Right to left: Loughborough's one and only only emergency fire engine, which, like many fire engines in service up and down the UK, is a Scania; an  Iveco Daily tactical response vehicle, which replaced another fire engine in 2017; an Iveco Daily detection, identification and monitoring (DIM) vehicle; a Scania water carrier; and a Scania training fire engine (which is one of two, the second being out of sight in this photograph). A visiting fire engine, a newer Scania, leaves the fire station. Another view of the fire station, with all vehicles visible.

A strange sighting on the 127

Image
An Alexander-Dennis Enviro400 MMC, 3103 (YX17 NLD), on Old Ashby Road on the 127 bound for Leicester on the 17th of February 2021. This bus was formerly based at East Midlands Airport as a car park shuttle bus, and carries the East Midlands Airport park and ride shuttle livery as well as an extra door in the middle, which is a rare feature for regional buses, as regional operators usually seem to prefer buses with only one passenger door. Also note that the Arriva logo on the side is different to the new logo on the front.

Crocuses at Loughborough University

In late February 2021, the university began to bloom with thousands of beautiful little crocuses. These photographs were taken between Faraday Walk and Pilkington Library, along University Road.
